i have downloaded so much music recently, music that i have always wanted but just never had. some are

dashboard confessional
alkaline trio
red house painters
devendra banhart

have most people heard of red house painters? they were a band that was around in the 90's. (they are still technically around). they write really moody sad music. the main guy is namd mark koselek. i had heard of him and the red house painters about 2 and a half years ago, from todd (my roomate) and kristin. even though sometimes their sound is really typical 90's, i'm surprised at how advanced and good it still is. cause even though i grew up in the 90's and loved the music so much, i can't really listen to any of it now. and if i do, it's mainly for nostalgic purposes. but red house painters are a band that i can listen to and enjoy, and not think "man this is just bad grunge."

other 90's band that i can still do that with are

counting crows

that's all i can think of right now. counting crows are really the only band that i still listen to from the 90's.

one interesting thing about mark koselek is that he was addicted to drugs by the age of 10, and went through rehab a few years later.
