needle in the hay 2005-06-24, 5:48 a.m. one of the most powerful moments in cinema is in the royal tenembaums. it's when luke wilson tries to committ suicide. "i'm going to kill myself tomorrow," he says, and we all feel it. we all feel it deep down inside. we feel it cause we have friends who are like luke wilson, or we are like him ourselves. he led a life most people would be envious of. success, riches, etc. the world said he should be happy. his friends were probably saying he should be happy. but he wasn't. so to solve that, he disappears from the life he knew. he leaves thinking that he will find happiness in other places. but when that doesn't work, he comes back and tries to embrace his life. the one he knew. the life that made him suffer in the first place. he does that only to realize that it didn't do much good either. he then slits his wrists. it is the only thing that will stop the suffering and sadness he has endured. your hand on his arm previous entry, next entry, older entries, leave me a sad or funny note here, profile |
