it's hard to find your way through the darkness

i was reminded tonight of a situation that my brother brian went through while i was in high school. he had received his associates from ricks, and from there he moved to edmond, oklahoma and started playing in a band called the lids. at the same time he was in and out of school, but was mainly living a life of drugs and alcohol with not much responsibility. he had done a lot of hard drugs (coke and heroin) but at the time was really into ecstasy. one weekend it got so bad that he layed on his couch for three days straight taking hits of ecstasy. he did so much that he almost overdosed. he ended up calling my dad for help, and my dad drove the two hour drive to pick him up and brought him back to our house. i remember coming home that night and seeing him smoking outside of our house. smoking helped him fill the need of the heavier drugs he had been taking. it was somewhat strange to see. i hadn't even known he was having a problem and he was always someone who i idolized. after staying home for a little bit, he moved to utah for about 2 months and lived with this girl he had met at ricks who helped him out a lot. he then moved to san francisco where he met his wife flora. he is now graduating at long beach state in marine biology and really happy.

it seems that all my siblings, including myself, have gone through or are going through similiar situations. situations that makes one question everything they have ever been taught, and what course of life they want to follow.
